Felix Lindtmayer the younger
Felix Lindtmayer, father (?) and teacher of Daniel Lindtmayer d. J., was a glass painter and glazier in Schaffhausen as well as attracting mention elsewhere. In 1544 he settled as a master craftsman in Schaffhausen. From 1557-1558 he worked as a secretary for Captain Werner Abegg in France. In 1570 he was elected as a city judge by the Boatsmen's guild, and from 1571 to the Great Council. He married Anna Schmid around 1564 and the Lindtmayer workshop lasted until around 1586 thanks to her later marriage to the glass painter Michel Stark from Villingen.
Ambrosius Holbein
The son of Hans Holbein the Elder and brother of Hans Holbein the Younger came to Basel in 1515, where he joined the painters' guild in 1517 and acquired citizenship in 1518. Since no further references are known from the same year, it is assumed that he died during 1518 - at the age of 25 years. Although the artist left only a few paintings, he is the creator of an extensive graphic oeuvre, which includes numerous illustrations, most of which were commissioned by the book printing trade.
Portrait of a young man
Ambrosius Holbein, brother of Hans Holbein the Younger (1497/98–1543), worked with the Schaffhausen painter Thomas Schmid (around 1490–1550/60) on the decoration of the main Hall of the St George monastery in Stein am Rhein during his journeymanship. The small circular picture is one of the very few paintings attributed to the Basel book illustrator, who died young.
