Thomas Pröll

Thomas Pröll

Pröll worked as a journeyman gold and silversmith for Hans Georg Ott "zum Otter" until 1696 and for Hans Jakob Läublin in Schaffhausen from 1696 to 1706. In 1708 Pröll moved to neighbouring Diessenhofen and worked there as a foreman. He supplied his liturgical utensils and silverware as far away as Rheinau, Muri, Engelberg and Mariastein. In 1723 he received what is probably his most important commission when he made a gold chalice for Abbot Gerold II Zurlauben von Rheinau. He used the Diessenhofen hallmark, a six-pointed star over a lying moon, and his master's mark "TP".
